Pro Series 34 got it in Jan. Had problems with it maintaining heat so Traeger sent me a new control unit. Still issues.... Temperature will vary plus or minus as much as 20% either direction from the set temperature.
Actually as I wrote this, the temp went down to 150 from the set 225. This brisket is going to be ruined....
And now 5 min later it is no longer burning anything. Seems after a number of hours, sa 4 or so, this thing shuts off.... Same thing it did before they sent a new controller.
Anyone with similar experience? Solution? Advice?

Have they explored the possibility of a bad ambient probe? Do you have another 3rd party ambient probe you could test so you know you're getting accurate temps from their probe? I would make sure it's clean and not damaged. Seems like Traeger always wants to replace the controller instead of properly troubleshooting every possible scenario.

Have not.... The thing has only been used 3 times.... You may have something there! Very frustrated.
But why would the fire go completely out after 4 or 5 hours of large fluctuation?

I am experiencing some if the same things I am seeing listed. First brisket, fire goes out, temp swings I can understand to a certain extent but some things I don't understand. For instance, doing a prime rib right now and set for 225 but temp never gets to 225. Only getting to 223 then boom, drops back down to 213 or so. Is this common or should I be getting more stable temps?

Sounds like you could have an auger issue. Pellets not feeding correctly can cause fluctuations and auger not feeding at all can cause fire to go out.
