A couple days ago in mid cook, my pro 575 totally shut down. I restarted it and it ran for a few minutes and then shut down again. I went through this process several times always with the same result. I did some online searcing and found several posts where people had this issue and corrected it by disconnecting the grill from the wifi. I tried this and it worked and I was able to finish my cook. Any ideas what's going on?

I just bought a Timberline 850 and wasn't able to even get through the seasoning process without the grill shutting down. They're claiming it's a hot rod issue, but I think it's the firmware. Their support team is very friendly but I get the sense that they have absolutely no idea what they're doing.

Let me guess: you're on an Android device? If so, mind sharing what kind of device you're using?

My ironwood 650 is doing the same thing today. I have had it for four years wh no prior issues.

I am, I can use the wifi and everything works fine in manual mode, very strange.

Yeah I finally got it working by just disconnecting it from WiFi. Are you saying that as long as you don't open your app it will work even if it's connected to WiFi?

It went into sleep mode when it started snowing, definitely electrical.

My Ironwood 885 has been shutting down in mid cook as well. I've been working with Traeger support and so far they have sent me a power switch with a harness, a firepot with an igniter and a new controller but nothing has helped. I was leaving my Android tablet up with the Traeger app running to monitor the grill and occasionally using my Android phone to check as well. I finally tried not using the Traeger app at all and was able to finish my cook - 6 hours without an issue.

Has anyone reported this to Traeger and do they have a solution or are at least working on something to fix this?

I've had the same problem with my Timberline 1300. I worked with tech support for almost 2 hours on Sunday. They said it's the Android app that is causing it. Today I received an email saying this.

"We do have some good news! We are releasing an app update that we are confident will resolve this. Keep an eye out on your app store, and once you see an update available, and you have it installed, this should resolve this behavior. The app version is going to be 3.1.3 and we are expecting the updates to start showing up for some as early as this afternoon, so I would keep an eye out."

I did receive an update to the Traeger app today to the 3.1.3 but it will be this weekend before I can test it.

I am very happy that they feel this will fix the issue, however, it's not the Android app that was crashing, meaning there is still something wrong with the firmware on the controller. Perhaps the app won't trigger the crash now, but the bug would still be there in the firmware. Hopefully they will fix that as well, so we don't have another issue down road.
