This is an easy fix 99% of the time. Most of these grills don't have a lid stop to help hold the lid so they rely on the little stop in the hinge to hold this huge lid.
What has happened is the hinge barrel that is part of the lid has been rolled forward and throws off the alignment. No need for taping the seam or anything drastic.
Take a big set of channel lock plyers.
Grab that hinge roll as you are standing in front of the grill and rotate the barrel back to the back of the grill. You may need to take the hinges off first to make it easier.
I just do it on the grill so I can see when it is back in position.
