Pro 22 (factory cover, welder's blanket for winter cooks), Weber Genesis, lots of temp probes and various other gizmos, thingamajigs, and a beer cooler.
After watching a comparison test cook of two briskets conducted by Smokin' Joe (
), one smoked with Smokin' Pecan Shell pellets, the other with a "100% pecan wood pellet" I am convinced I need Pecan Shell pellets. Smokier and slower burning; what more could a PitMaster ask for? Alas, due to the vagaries of that arbitrarily draw line separating the Great White North from the U-alls, they are not - to the best of my knowledge, available in Canada, either retail or mail order.
Anybody in BC Lower Mainland or Southern Ontario know of a source?

No Pecan shell pellets locally for me and my area, but I am secluded on an island.
Closest is pecan pellets from Furtado Farms, but these don't appear to be made from shells alone. I am sure they'd advertise as such.
Maybe reach out to a US manufacturer and ask if they have any Canadian distributors

Thanks Rusty. Smokin'Pecan (the manufacturer) does not have a Can. distributor, for whatever reasons. I've contacted one BBQ chain based in (I think) Victoria, awaiting their response.
Maybe their is a BBQ chain based out of TO might be open to this. Just gotta figure out who that might be. Any Ontario folks got any ideas?

Yeah, usually freight screws it up. DicksonBBQ in Ontario stopped sending pellets to BC. But at least I can order from Furtado Farms directly and they ship to BC.
Smokin'Pecan is on Amazon.ca....lol $102.02 for a 20 lb box.
Tad steep to try

The Trump Police must have got to it. One quote I got was for C$42, that was within my range, but they wouldn't ship to Can. Amazon.ca didn't carry it yesterday. C$102 is too high.

Way too high, and that's a sale price from the 116 they list as regular pricing
Free shipping for prime members...lol
42 Canadian isn't bad, but your shipping will be close to double that and then probably have to deal with an incoming tariff, as well as any CAD taxes due. And hopefully if you could find someone that did ship they don't use UPS, because their cross-border charges are ridiculous

Makes smuggling look worthwhile.

You'll get a much better flavor from pecan wood chips in a smoke tube in my opinion and experience. Although I’ve never heard of pecan shell pellets but in general I get my flavor from my smoke tubes regardless of what type of pellets I use.

Those Smokin’ Pecan pellets are on my list to try.

Pecan trees are native to the Southern United States along the Mississippi River. However, they are grown all across the Southeast. Although Pecans are not native to Georgia, they have made themselves at home there. That state produces about 40% of the nations pecans. Texas, which claims the pecan tree as their state tree, produces about 30%.

Another interesting fact is that pecan trees are part of the hickory family. The family tree (pun intended) has two branches: true hickory trees and pecan hickory trees.

Here in the Chicago area, it is difficult enough finding pecan wood pellets, much less pecan shells. I am sure it would be much easier to find the shells in the Southeast.

I smoked butt for pulled pork with the pecan shell pellets. Turned out great.
