Ironwood 650
I purchased my ironwood 650 back in May of this year. I've cooked on it a bunch of times, 25% I would say was at 450+. Today I was doing a cleaning and noticed the paint missing, almost burnt off around the bottom edges of the exhaust fan. Is this normal or should I reach out to traegar to fix it?

At this point, yes, this has been seen on grills run at the higher temps.

You can take it up with Traeger, some have gotten replacements.

You could mask sand and paint with hi-temp paint.

You could sand and spray with grate spray oil, the heat will "blue" the steel. It will look black again.

Since this is only in the rear, personally I'd patch it up myself but it's your call.

Thanks for the info.

I reached out to Traegar and they mentioned it was due to a pellet fire. They said grill should operate normal, and to do what you suggested just paint over to prevent rust.

Unfortunately it doesn't take a pellet fire to cause that damage, just high temp usage. Traeger support is wrong.

I will add that other manufacturers have fine print in their manuals that say paint is not covered, to just re-paint worn areas.
