Not keeping temperature

Hi everyone,

Just purchased my new Traeger grill.
So far so good.
My question is that when I set the temp dial to 225C, I notice that the temperature goes up and down and does not consistently stay at 225C. It sometimes goes up to 280C and them comes back down.
Is this normal behaviour? I called the hotline but they were not helpful.

Yes, there will be some swing in the temperature, that is normal. The older elite model controllers swing about +/- 20 degrees or so. The newer pro model controllers I believe should be closer to about +/- 10 degrees or so. A lot depends on the model of grill you have, ambient temperature, wind, etc. I have not used any of the grills with the new D2 setup, so can't comment on that.
