New shoes for 575

I upgraded the wheels on my 575 today. Ordered 14" wheels [Amazon] to replace the 7" originals. Had to have 14" to compensate for the office chair casters [Amazon] that inserted into the holes in the front legs. Qty 2 - ⅜" x 6" bolts, Qty 4 - ⅜" x ½" brass bushings to make ⅜" bolt ½" for 14" wheel. Used original cap nut and lock washer for reassembly.

Ordered the wheels again and Amazon finally sent me the correct size of 3", the ones they send were 2.5".

Hirate 5 Pack Office Chair Casters (2 with Brakes, 3 Without), 3" Lockable Heavy Duty Swivel Caster Wheel Replacements for Hardwood Floor Carpet

This fixed the slight tilt....it is level on the top now! ​

DO NOT order the Shepherd Hardware 9807 3-Inch Swivel Stem Caster, Rubber Wheel, 7/16-Inch Stem Diameter, 175-lb Load Capacity
that I was going to try......the stem is WAY too long.

I actually move mine away from the house each time I cook, but not certain how much something like this wouldn help. Maybe a good bit of the two smaller ones function well.

I think before I spent to much here I’d try and sale my 575 and just upgrade to the 780 and pick up more real estate. Mine was a gift so not complaining but I think the just extra $100 makes the 780 a much better value because it already has wheels and is bigger

Good Morning. Traeger touts their all terrain wheels for easy moving. Mine has been in the same spot since I bought 6 months ago. Although mine is on a deck in a corner where house meets garage. No wind there at all.

Mine are pretty beefy and roll through the grass just fine.....at least did the one time I did when moving it from my garage to its forever home......the only problem with the 575 is that it has only two wheels and not the wheels themselves

The default on Amazon is the 2.5" caster...... The grill does have a slight drop from right to left with the 2.5" which is apparently the one I ordered, so the 3" is the better choice. Dunno know if or when I'll order different ones but for now it works just fine......... If one were to measure the depth of the caster stem hole I'm sure it is deeper than 7/8".

⌂ One could try the caster listed below but not for sure if the caster hole is deep enough......

Shepherd Hardware 9807 3-Inch Swivel Stem Caster, Rubber Wheel, 7/16-Inch Stem Diameter, 175-lb Load Capacity

This caster is 3", it's wider and it has a 1 3/8" stem and fits a 7/16" hole. Again, I don't know the depth of the stem hole.


⌂ The Bronze flange bearings I purchased at the local hardware store, but I found these on Amazon that should work just fine.

The Hillman Group 58101 Flange Bearing, Bronze 3/8 X 1/2 X 5/8 X 1-Inch, 4-Pack

All your trying to do is increase the axle size to the ½" on the wheel. Unfortunately, you can’t just drill the holes in the grill out to ½" because there are welded inserts in the leg that are 3/8” diameter. This means you need to have a 3/8” bolt 6 ½" long.
