I got a Pro 780 for Christmas and of course I opened it early and set it up yesterday and seasoned it. This morning I started a brisket at 7:00. The grill is holding the temp great. Two questions. Do you prime the auger before every cook? Second, two hours into cooking and I see little to no smoke coming out of the chimney. Is this common? Using Traeger hickory pellets.

  1. No
  2. Yes, they smoke more at lower temps. It's still doing its job though.

Thanks. I'm running it at 235. Smells good. Just figured more smoke would be visible.

I asked the same question when I got mine on Father's Day. They said it was clear smoke and that is what you want. Had not heard of that before but I cooked a brisket and when I sliced it there was a nice smoke ring! Still don't understand it fully but it sure works on mine

Clean and clear (invisible basically) smoke is what you want. White dirty smoke is bad lol. Cheers!

Thanks for the replies. I know dirty smoke is bad was just expecting a little visible like you see on their commercials. That being said the brisket turned out good. Very moist. I like more smoke flavor in mine. I’ll start at a lower temp fir a bit next time. Pics attached.
