Made a mistake with my corned beef brine

Hi guys - joined the forum specifically for advice on the bone headed mistake I just made.

I was preparing the Smoke Corned Beef recipe as per the app and I admittedly was distracted by some recent events at my daughters school.

Because I was not paying full attention I accidentally poured hot brine on my 8lbs packer brisket. I simply lost track of what I was doing and did not wait for it to cool.

The brisket is currently in the fridge. Is it absolutely destroyed or can I still allow it to soak and try to cook it in 5 days? Has anyone else ever made such a mistake?
