Ironwood 885, Weber Genesis, Blackstone w/air fryer
Just picked up an 885 at a local dealer. This is my second pellet grill. My first was a Weber SmokeFire EX4. Bought it in Feb 2020 and sent back a week ago. Decided on the Traeger. Haven't even had a chance to break it in yet because of issues with ios and wifire. Hope I didn't trade one headache for another. Will work on it some more tomorrow.

Other than that my first impressions are positive.

Is there an insulated cover for an Ironwood 885?

Welcome to the club, the Ironwood 885 club. I don't think they make one for the Ironwood due to how it vents. All the covers out there are for the ones with the smoke stack.

What did you not like about the Weber SmokeFire?

Congrats! I just put mine together today and am seasoning it right now. I’ve had a Masterbuilt for several years. Finally but the bullet.

My first pellet grill was the Weber Smokefire early this year. I had 3 rounds of replacement parts. I practically rebuilt the grill. Customer service was good but the grill was a piece of crap. It got up to 600 degrees once, stayed there about 20 minutes, and was never seen again. Pellets jammed the auger after every cook and needed to be cleared, which was a major pain. I suffered thru many shutdowns in the middle of cooks. Horrible design. Was lucky Ace Hardware took it back after 3 months-they had many other complaints. Bought my Ironwood 650 and absolutely love it. It has performed flawlessly. I’ve had peeling paint like so many others on the board but it’s strictly cosmetic and a minor flaw.

Wow, I forgot about my Masterbuilt. Had it for years and wore it out. Bought the SmokeFire. Issues in temp control. Although customer service was fabulous, hoping Traeger is good also, the unit was unreliable. I also replaced many parts. Ironwood looks great and hope I can get the wifire figured out.

Thanks for the info on the Weber. I saw one at Lowe's and though it was sexy in their Weber style. Good to know it's a POS. No wonder Lowe's closed it out and all their pellets. LOL.

Weber recalled all un-sold units. They are shipping out the second generation.

The Weber wifi was a lot easier to setup than wifire. Got about 3 hours into it and still can't get it to work :(

Just finished up with Beatrice on the support chat line. She solved my wifi issues in no time. She was great. Now time to use it for the first time.

Welcome to the forum @Jim G and congrats on the new Ironwood! 🍻

Congrats on the new grill! I love mine and use it regularly. Coldest temps don't bother it the slightest. I however did throw a cheap welding blanket on it with some magnets to hold it down just to reduce pellet consumption during the winter.

I shopped at my local Ace for a pellet grill in June. Their grill specialist started by pitching Traeger. I asked what he thought of the Weber and he just gave a two word reply: "Stay away". Bought the IW 650 and been very satisfied so far.

When I bought my SmokeFire, I was convinced that their technology was better. 4 probes instead of one, inclined auger, no grease bucket. But reliability is more important than technology. I am hoping that my 885 will provide that.
