Got my 650 middle of Feb and have used it a lot. My family is constantly and he’s Smoking again! I have been amazed at how little the temperature fluctuates. Today was a different story 3-4 times temp was in the 390+ range when set to 375

I've found that happens almost normally. Always have to keep in mind that it may be a computer monitoring a fire, it is still a fire. If the auger happens to have a bit more pellets jammed in a small space and dumps a bit more in it'll climb, or if the temp drops a bit lower it'll up the auger speed to recoup the temp loss and will overshoot it every time. It'll depend on ambient temps a lot or how often the lid is opened. If its fluctuating lots all the time, id say its cause for concern. But it if happens occasionally and sorts itself out, dont worry about it!

Thx for the reply. Will keep an eye ? n it but something seems to be wrong. Used it probably 10-12 time and temp never varied + or - 10 of set temp. The other night huge temp swings.

Do you only have these large temp swings while cooking at higher heat? Do you have the 25 degree swings while cooking at say 220? I found my Ironwood 885 will swing more with high temps. Not sure why, may be because it will dump lots of pellets in and then once the pellets ignite the fire roars? I never really pay much attention to temp swings unless the app is giving me low or high temp warnings or if I'm trying to cook something low and slow. Id say watch it and see what happens with low heat cooks! Also, do you have a welding blanket for it yet? It will also help if you dont...

Smoked a leg of lamb yesterday @ 275 and the temperature only varied -5 to +8 degrees.
