Hi
I’m new to Traeger and smoking in general. I have Pro 22. So far I have smoked, pulled pork and a “Beer Can Chicken”. Both came out awesome. I have a question about smoker temperature accuracy. My model does not have built-in meat probes, only a smoker probe. I purchased an external 4 probe wireless thermometer. My Traeger sits in full sun, the handle was hot to the touch when I started it. I have a pork loin in the smoker as I type.
I set one of the probes, of my new 4 probes, to monitor internal smoker temperature. The probe’s temperature and the Traeger’s internal temp are 20 - 25 degrees off, with the Trager probe showing the lower temperature. The Built in temperature probe also swings 20F.
How accurate is the internal Traeger temperature and how can I calibrate it?
Thanks in advance,
Sunil ~ AKA Tony Stark
