Now we all have our likes and dislikes with different smokers.
This would be great to have and to master cooking on
At about $2950 for the smoker alone, it isn't cheap. Crating and shipping extra. Quality looks amazing. I look forward to follow mad scientist BBQ on his journey with his
@GrillMeister I see a new smoker for your outdoor kitchen

That would be an an awesome addition (when I have an extra $3K laying around).

It's a beauty, but for that kind of cash for a stick burner, I think I would rather invest in a welder and try to build one myself first.

Still, it's dang sexy! 🍻

Don't think I'd be thrilled about getting a new grill with rust and wheels that look like belong on something that weighs half as much. For $3k they couldn't toss in some silica packs?

Still, want.

Rust didn't bother me, although I found it odd seeing he mentions it was seasoned. But the wheels did bug me. I understand they are probably keeping with the overall look. But I would prefer some larger rubber wheels. He struggles to move the weight of that thing.

I doubt he paid anything for it, so I would be glad to to deal with small wheels. :)

That is a bad @$$ pit indeed... I paid 6K for the pull behind one I had...

This was my design, a buddy of mine knows a guy who can make octagonal tubes of different sizes...

So the cook chamber is 72" long? And the firebox is 54" long and runs parallel to the cook chamber? Is the firebox centered on the cook chamber then?
Pretty neat concept.

YES, none of this "from the end", this design was to build a better type that would be like my old pull behind.

This smoker only had 2 lousy pipes running from the firebox to the chamber (poor design)... I designed mine using the proper specs from the Builders calculator for amount of opening from fire pit to chamber, plus the top of my fire pit goes straight into the chamber with less heat loss into the air. (thanks to the octagon this works great) On top of the fire pit would go a water chamber that would produce steam and feed into main chamber like you see in the pic above. (not shown in the design)

My buddy builds beer tapper trailers for big beer companies, he gets trailers real cheap.

Yoder's most popular model is the YS 640 S (base price $1,999) which comes with legs and really small wheels. My competition cart model upgrade ($2, 849 before accessories) came with 8" rubber wheels at 417 pounds. Two big guys were just able to man handle my grill through the gravel to get to the grill site in a side yard. Their next model up (YS1500S) scales 667 pounds with a starting price of $4,199 and would have not been a possible choice given our access. Their next model up is towable with all that implies starting atb $8,7956 and scales 1,567 pounds They make some really huge units that blow past $20K.

So when are you gonna start building this? 😁

you can weld!!! ya wanna help, I'll bet we could get 8K for these when done and advertised the right way.

The firebox has a full length pull out coal/wood basket and the idea is you light one end and it burns to the other... the bottom front has DIAL INTAKES that can follow the fire as it moves from one end to the other... that gets fresh air right to where the fire is at that time... need a longer cook, just pull the basket out before the fire reaches the end and load it to go backwards.
