I'm Kinda a Newbie, but is there a system for which grate to use (level) for different meats?
I Have a Timberline 1300, I mostly have been using the middle shelf thinking the smoke is rolling around?
Are there better placements for different meats?
Say Ribs Vs Brisket?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks, Smoke On!

Essentially when your grate is on the lowest level it is the grilling level (closest to the heat source), as you move the grates up it is farther away from the fire pot aka the smoking level. With my experience I wouldn’t say there’s better placements for different meats but the levels do matter in my opinion.
If I was cooking something like burgers or just grilling chicken or steak, I would place the grates on the lowest level.
When smoking meats I place the grates on a higher level
