Gasket seal

Here are some daytime photos, moving the lid side to side didn’t help. I initially thought it was the way it presses at the top so I made some different cuts.

You can see in the first photos that there is that gap, almost like I need to adjust the actual shape of the lid, on the left side and top it is fine.
Almost like it’s the shape of the lid...

Try it it, the seal might find its own happy place with some heat. Or tweak the lid as you suggest.

Sounds good. About to make some baked beans and will see how it is. May add some washers under the right hinges.

Got some smoke leaking, more than normal now. Going to try the washer on the next cook.

this is starting up and how it can be at the beginning.

cheer!

I put some of the Lava on my P780 and it’s amazing. The other day I screwed up and primed my auger (just out of habit) even though I had pellets in the hopper.

The firebox must have been packed because the grill was smoking like never before from the stack but nothing from the door. When I opened the door smoke billowed out.

i wish I had my phone for a picture. The smoke was EPIC.

When I installed mine I took the door off and then reset it with the gasket taped on.

So you are really not sure your lid wasn't that way before you put the gasket on, right?

@Slimpicker I thought I had replied... too many yellow jackets while making beans! Yes I think it must have been, there is a smoke stain on the right hand side where the smoke is still coming out. Wonder how I can fix this?

Here is a photo of the stain where smoke has been coming out before

open your lid and measure from top edge to bottom edge on both sides left and right... is the right side more or less than the left???

Is it just smoke or is the paint damaged ?, I fixed mine with "High Temp Automotive Paint" spray can as noted here on the Fourm...

Looks to me like your lid just needs to go straight back...

This should be done at the hinge... you can try loosening them and pushing your lid back while tightening them... or maybe make a shim that only fits under the FRONT half of the hinge causing it to raise up a little and back a little

Amazing, thank you @Slimpicker! I’ll give this a try tomorrow and will report back.
