I haven't used grill for a few months, went to fire it up, uhoh didn't hear fan, and yep Fan Disconnected error. What's the usual things to check, or how to troubleshoot?

Never mind, tore into it earlier. Mouse had made a home in there, nest sitting on bottom grate of hopper. Chewed through - fan harness, hot rod wiring, thermocouple wiring. Not sure how it got in the bottom of hopper. Parts ordered.

When I read your initial post, I wondered if you had been the victim of a small rodent. It turns out, I was right. You might have been able to splice the wires, but since your mouse was an overachiever, replacement is probably the best option.

Wires were too far gone, else would have just spliced them. Chewed the wires right up to edge of fan, etc. I think they used the power cord as a handy staircase to get into that area. No more easy entrance for you Mouse. Took some sheet metal made smaller opening so the opening snuggly fits power cord plug.

The mouse was definitely an overachiever. One thing that can stop mice is plugging openings with coarse steel wool. Amazon even has a listing for "steel wool for mice control".
