Hello to all. I own a Traeger Pro 575. I was wondering if it was possible to make a modification to the drip pan in order to increase direct cooking capabilities. I'll explain. I have seen for example that some yoder smokers, on the dripping pan exactly above the burner, have a removable panel which, when removed, exposes the flame below. This allows you to place a cast iron pan or anything else on the grill with a direct flame underneath.

Has anyone tried to do such a thing? Could it be feasible?

Thanks

I suppose you could simply make a cut out but not sure how that would actually work out. I believe some Pit Boss models have the same thing. But isn't this used for searing? I have used a cast iron pan many times with indirect heat w/o any issues. I still use my Weber gasser for high temp searing.

I wouldn't advice it... can you say "warranty violation"
