Desserts Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yum! Will they actually come out a little smokey at that temp or do you need to start at a lower temp?

You shouldn't get much smoke at that temp. It is functioning more like a wood fired convection oven

I have helped my wife make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. While definitely doable, the last 20 years when we have made them we have just purchased a tub of Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough in a tub from the grocery store.

Honestly, the product is so good that it is difficult to distinguish the final results from the made from made from scratch cookies. It sure is a lot less trouble.

You can bake the cookies in the oven or on your Traeger. Either way, the recommended temperature is 325F unless you live at high altitude. If you use the Traeger, make sure the grill temperature has stabilized at 325F before starting the bake. At lower temps, you might get some smokey flavor. To insure proper baking, make sure you are using an accurate 3rd party thermometer to measure the cooking chamber rather than relying on the controller temperature, which is likely to read higher than actual.
