I've noticed on my Pro 575 that the chimney cap can raise and lower quite a bit. Is there any noticeable effect in heightening or lowering this? The installation and user manual don't make a mention of tinkering with it. I didn't really think of it until I was watching some YouTube and a guy mentioned to change it based on the temp you're cooking.

On my Pro 780 the chimney gap is a fat 1/2”. The fan controls the temp so you don’t have to adjust it up or down.

I will note that if closed to much, you could start the pellets in the auger on fire and smoke will come out of the hopper. Mainly because it can’t get out of the chimney.

edit: this is from the Traeger web site.

Mine has been lowered almost level with the chimney for almost as long as I've owned it.

But, I agree with Timmy to leave a gap, I'm just too 'old smoker' to allow that much heat and smoke to escape that easy... (but Traeger is probably designed for a good gap)
