By mistake I aborted the shut down procedure after I had done the seasoning the grill. It's still warm, not cold yet. But I can't open the lid. What do I do?

Did the lid on the grill open and close easily when you first tried it.?
I wonder if the grill got so hot during the seasoning process that the lubricant in the door pivot evaporated or oxidized. You might try to use a little penetrating lubricant to see if that frees it up. A silicone lube should be able to withstand the heat,

When I try to open it, the gasket (?) seems to be sticky. I only put it at 500 degrees as instructed. Kept it there 30 min, all after I did the initial 350 for 20 min.
This morning we could open the lid. The gasket on the lid had stuck to the grill. It also came loose in a couple spots. Obviously a problem that needs to be addressed, especially on a brand new grill.
