Winter is coming and I can’t find an insulated cover for my Bronson 20. So, I bought a welding blanket to cover it. The problem is that the Bronson 20 doesn’t have a smoke stack, it just has two holes out the back. The blanket will cover those holes. I don’t know if I should cut holes in the blanket or re-route the smoke. I was thinking attaching a channel iron on the back, so the smoke can be directed out both sides and the blanket can lay over it.
Has anyone made an insulated cover?

Not advised to cover your only smoke exit area or even choke it a little.
There is another thread in here recent with this same Q, don't know the conclusion but again, I strongly advise you NOT cover that area.

Here’s my prototype smoke stack. I should be able to lay the welding blanket over top, without blocking any smoke.

I am not sure how the holes are in that model. My initial thought without seeing it is I would attach some hooks to the welding blanket so it hooks to the holes in the back and then some type of weights to the front so it hangs over the front and the hooks keep it from falling off.

Two oblong holes about 5x 2 inches half way up the back. So they can’t becovered. Add on tube might work. Curious to see.

I won’t run my Bronson overnight so I’m not to worried about a insulating it in cold days. I will get a cover for my 780 though.

Trying out the modification. So far so good. I think the welding blanket will work with my new “smoke stack”. It’s hard to say how much heat it will retain.

I finally found a Traeger insulated blanket for by Bronson 20. They were really hard to find in my area. The experiment is over.

It’s Traeger brand. I got it at Lone Star Tack and Feed, near Calgary Alberta . $140 CAD.
