Good morning.

I want to keep my rub simple, just salt and pepper. But I was looking through some forums and videos and saw that lots of folks suggest adding some ground coffee to the mix. Has anyone ever heard of this or actually used this mix?

Thanks,

I've never tried it on a brisket, but I've used it on steaks. Trader Joe's makes an awesome garlic coffee rub.

This doesn't answer your question about coffee (!), but I would encourage you to watch this video of Aaron Franklin, one of the foremost experts. His rubs are very basic and that's all you need. I use his rub as my base and then add a few more ingredients depending on my mood.

The Bearded Butchers from Ohio have a rub called 'Black' and it contains coffee grounds.
