I've been considering installing an analog thermometer in the lids. Just to have something else to double check the stock Traeger probe. Something like this:

Thoughts?

You gonna drill into your traeger lid? If so that would make me nervous. I use my thermapen to verify the probe. Always within 1-3 degrees.

Same. I’m not comfortable drilling into my hood. I use a redicheck for ambient and I can read it from my lazy boy inside...

I wouldn't drill into you hood. Not worth it when you can get a thermometer to monitor grill level/cooking chamber temps. Which are way more accurate then the analogy one that you have pictured.

If attached to the hood it wont give you accurate reading to what your meat is actually cooking at which is at grill level. Just MHO..
