Pellets Mad Scientist BBQ Pellet Comparison

I just ran across this video on one of the Discord boards I follow. Surprising results.

Wifire - Eevo Internet Time issue

Did you try the suggestion here: https://www.traegerforum.com/threads/eero-wifire-connection-fix.3104/

Added Lava Rock grill gasket, but my barrel is apparently dented! [[ SOLVED ]]

This is just a thought, so follow at your own risk (but it is what I'd try on mine, if needed). Instead of trying to bang it out, I'd put a wood block on the outside and use a C clamp to pull the dent out. You might need to make the wood block slightly curved or U shaped to get the dent fully out.

Aluminum foil / Aluminum tray liners health question

I find it rather amusing that some people buy pellet grills because they add more smoke flavor over propane, while others buy them because they smoke less than propane. ;)

    Smoke setting on grill

From page 20 of the owners manual: If you select a temperature, the grill will try to maintain the set temperature. In SMOKE mode, the grill doesn't care about temperature and just tries to maintain a smokey fire by cycling the auger on and off. SMOKE mode is suggested for startup because of...

    Salmon Steaks

The finish temp depends on what kind of salmon you are cooking (as well as personal preference). As a general rule of thumb, the farm raised Atlantic salmon is typically cooked to a higher internal temp than the wild caught Pacific salmon. So, the farm raised can go up to 135F-140F, while the...

Cooking with Foil pans vs placing meat directly on grill grate

When I need something under my food, I use Frogmats in my grill. They're reusable, USDA approved, can be cut to size, and can handle indirect temps up to 550F. http://www.frogmats.com/

    Pellet Storage

Just use the Traeger Meat Church pellets. They come with their own zip lock bag!!! :devilish:

Urgent: OK to cook like this?

The RTD shown in the picture above controls the pit temp. It needs to be functional in order for the pit to operate. A Fireboard will help accurately monitor the pit temp, but it can't control it.

    Fireboard 2 - Accuracy

I would expect the difference with a 6 foot extension to be less than 1 degree. I'll assume you are using the thermistor probe (the default for Fireboard 2). The resistance of a 6 foot extension is less than 1 ohm, which is significantly less than the change in resistance of the thermistor with...

Looking to make vinegar-based pulled pork, brine or inject?

Pork butt is very forgiving, so experiment away. The is no one right way, but there may be several popular ways. Find what you like and enjoy the journey along the way.

    Pellet sensor

Mine came pre-installed. It is not the most accurate thing (like Traeger's temp probes), but I look at it during cooks to give me a rough idea of pellet usage. Just don't let things get too close to zero.

    New to Fourm

Welcome. There is a lot of good stuff here. Be sure and take a look at the FAQ post, it can save a lot of frustration with a new unit: https://www.traegerforum.com/threads/read-first-%E2%96%BAtraeger-faqs-tech-info.2145/

    Emergency response needed. Cooking time

Since you haven't gotten a reply yet, I'll put in my 2 cents. Go ahead and put it in the cooler. A 13 pounder will stay hot for quite a while in a cooler. I'll defer to any expert opinion, though.

Not an owner yet, but conflicted

The important thing is that you get one that you'll be happy with. The biggest reason why I got the Traeger model I did doesn't apply to 99% (or more) of the people out there, so I usually don't share my reasons either. You can make good Q on a lot of different types of devices, as long as you...

    So disappointed ....

The bottom of my gasser has rusted out, so I don't use it any more. That means all my outdoor cooking is on my IW885. I plan on replacing the gasser so I can sear things, but I don't expect to get a big one. I'm never going to be searing 2 dozen burgers at the same time. Even if I'm smoking up 2...

    Probes getting a boost?

Here are the regular food probes: https://www.fireboard.com/shop/food-probe/ Two of these come with the Fireboard 2. I purchased a competition series probe pack (https://www.fireboard.com/shop/competition-series-probe-pack/), so I don't use the regular food probes. One of the regular food probes...

    Probes getting a boost?

I use the regular (thick) food probe that came with my Fireboard to measure ambient temperature outside the pit. I just hang it off the power cord hanger in the back of the unit. I picked up a second ambient probe for additional measurements in the pit. It is smaller and comes with a handy...
