Admittedly I've been assuming these controllers and thermocouples operate more or less the same between different manufacturers. On my new RecTec (yep, used to be a Traeger owner until the Pro series made me jump ship), the calibration of the probes are done by inputting a degree offset (+/- 15...
It's also true that every thermocouple will have its own calibration curve. If the calibration curve stored on the controller doesn't match well with the one associated with the thermocouple it ships with, then things will be slightly off. An offset is not a perfect solution but it is the same...
Crazy, all you need to do is be able to apply an offset, presumably at a mid-range temperature. I really didn't want to name drop, but my RecTec makes this super easy.
I'm guessing he lives out in the sticks and may not even have LTE coverage (probably only 1 device too). Without the most current firmware update, the grill is not very useable, which I think is what he was really getting at. All Traeger needs to do is have a way to download the firmware file...
My last impression was that it fixed everyone up, but admittedly I ditched my Traeger in the midst of all those problems and went with a RecTec. So I haven't followed the thread all that closely since.
Ha, they did the same for me but they didn't know that I had returned my 575 to HD a couple of weeks before. Anyone need a replacement RTD for their 575?
There is a new firmware update that is getting pushed out now that reportedly fixes this problem. Make sure your grill is hooked up to wifi and it will eventually download
It's certainly true that the new Pro grills are a lot more complicated than the last generation of Traeger grills, but it still doesn't explain how they could release hundreds (thousands?) of these into the market without testing whether they perform properly. Since in the end this required a...
Ha, even as a happy owner of a RecTec Stampede, I'm really glad that they finally fixed the problem. Of course, I do prefer the excellent customer support from RT compared to Traeger..... (yes, passing jab) :)
I was very glad that I purchased my 575 from Home Depot and they took it back with no questions asked. Hopefully Traeger will fix this problem and then you'll be set.
Yes, you have lots and lots of company. The Ironwood doesn't have these problems, so it depends if you want to shell out more money to Traeger to upgrade. This is why several of us on this forum have returned our 575s and went with a different company. For example I am now a very satisfied...
