By "internal ambient temp probe" I meant internal to the Traeger cooking area. The meat probe seems to be reasonably accurate. And quite frankly, for the money we're paying they should have multiple ambient thermometers in the unit already! So far this Traeger 575 Pro isn't work the nearly $800...
I don't think that wireless probes are "there" yet with technology. And they are don't have a very high internal temp range without ruining them i.e. the Meater only can tolerate internal temps of 212 degrees. Ribs cook until about 205. That doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room if you're not...
Traeger grills internal ambient temp probe is notoriously under temp by 25-30 degrees from what they are indicating. You may be undercooking your food like I was until I found that out. It's pretty shitty for how much these grills cost.
Traegers are EXPENSIVE. I didn't know or expect that their ambient temp thermometer located on the wall of the cooking area would be off by 25-30 degrees. I ruined two meals due to undercooking them before I found this forum and found that this is a COMMON issue and that I had to shell out MORE...
I had a horrible experience with The Meater Plus probe in my Traeger 575 Pro. In a 6 hour rib cook it disconnected 8 times requiring a stop and start of my bluetooth on my phone to be able to reestablish a connection each time. I had the probe in the ribs, the charger/range extender and my phone...
I just bought a single MEATER PLUS. It says it does the internal temp of meat and the ambient grill temp at the same time. Any comments or thoughts on the MEATER products from those that use them?
The Fireboard and Meater probes are WAY more expensive then the Inkbird. I can afford any of them, but I don't want to waste money if the Inkbird does the same thing as accurately as the Fireboard and the Meater thermometers.
So I went out and bought an analog oven thermometer and hung it from the upper rack near the right side traeger ambient temp probe. It's about a 25 - 30 degree F difference between what the two say. I also laid the Traeger meat probe near the same location and that is indicating around the same...

Sounds like I'm better off returning the 575 Pro and buying the cheaper Traeger grill without wifi since all it's sending is erroneous data to your phone, and then invest in good temp gauges.

I'm just very disappointed right now. I'll be better tomorrow and ready to try again. I'm definitely going out and buying an analog oven thermometer to put inside the grill but what third party temp monitor brand and model do you, and everyone else, use, at least until i get a few hundred bbqs...
