No the pellets went directly from the bucket into the hopper. But I can't say for certain the bucket is really sealed. It is a 5 gal bucket with a rubber gasket on the lid. It may not be air tight and probably isn't.
Thanks for that slimpicker. However if you look at the pictures which were taken after the cook the pellets look matted. I certainly did not put that much dust into the hopper. I think matted pellets prevented the auger from feeding the pellets into the fire. So how did the pellets become matted.

For anyone seeing this I figured it out. I have to press the center button several times and it sequences to the probe temp and the count down timer and then back to the pit temp. Hope this helps anyone reading this.
