    Help! Failed cook on Ranger

No the pellets went directly from the bucket into the hopper. But I can't say for certain the bucket is really sealed. It is a 5 gal bucket with a rubber gasket on the lid. It may not be air tight and probably isn't.

    Help! Failed cook on Ranger

Thanks for that slimpicker. However if you look at the pictures which were taken after the cook the pellets look matted. I certainly did not put that much dust into the hopper. I think matted pellets prevented the auger from feeding the pellets into the fire. So how did the pellets become matted.

    Help! Failed cook on Ranger

You said "First and Worst is Traeger pellets". Are you saying that Traeger pellets are partially the cause of this and I should use some other brand?? If so which brand do you suggest?

    Failing my family

I smoked a steak from a receipt here on the forum and it came out great. Personally my wife and I like med rare so this worked for us but should work for more well done meats too. We reversed seer by setting the Traeger to 180. Put your favorite rub on and let the meat come to room temp. Place...

    Ranger meat probe

Thanks John, my wife has a Grill Grate temp probe for her Green Egg that I'll use. It monitors both the pit and food temp and has a remote.

    Ranger meat probe

For anyone seeing this I figured it out. I have to press the center button several times and it sequences to the probe temp and the count down timer and then back to the pit temp. Hope this helps anyone reading this.

    Ranger meat probe

Hi folks New to the forum. I just bought a Ranger and planning my first cook tonight, a sirloin pork roast. Before hand I fired it up and seasoned it by setting the temp to 450. It worked well and I shut it down going through the proper shutdown sequence. I wanted to test the meat probe so I...
